This is the type of news that starts debates. For years, I have defended video games and said they do not cause violence in children. I also think that while a lot of games have violence, they do not train children to kill or promote violence. However, one new game announcement over the weekend has brought up that argument again.

This game, called Hatred, is a top-down shooter game coming out next year developed by Destructive Creations for PC.

As you can see, this trailer and the type of gameplay and tone this game is displaying has caused a huge flood of controversy. Many people are calling the game too violent and almost misogynistic. However, some people are trying to see both sides of the issue as well as defend this game as part of the First Amendment.

The main developers of the game had to respond to all of the negativity the game has received so far.

Personally, I am mixed on this issue. Yes, video game creators are allowed to make any game they want thanks due to the first amendment. Also, this game, despite how graphic it is, will not cause violence by itself. However, that doesn’t mean I have to agree with the game. In fact, I hate the idea of this game. To me, this game is nothing but a horribleĀ glorification of violence and people with the wrong state of mind, could in theory take this game the wrong way.

Plus, with all the controversy about video game violence over the years, this isn’t helping with gaming’s image. In fact, it makes it even worse.

This game is nothing more than immature, disgraceful, and overall, will be a bad game.
